7 Steps Guide

As most of you know, we started our instagram account featuring other travelers photos. Our instagram, @yololetstraveltheworld, is an inspiration of all the places we want to travel to.
In less than a year, we grew into a community of travelers passionate about photography and aiming to grow their social media platforms.
We get so many requests asking how to get featured on @yololetstraveltheworld which is why we created this helpful guide.
In this guide you will understand how we make the selection process to feature photos on our account. You will also learn some Instagram tips! So let’s get started, follow these five steps to have a chance of being reposted on @yololetstraveltheworld:
1. Instagram photo size
The size of your picture should be 4×5 or 8×10. This is the perfect size for Instagram because the image will cover most of the screen, so the people who see your post will more likely notice your picture, spend some time on it, and therefore like it. If you photo size is small, people might just scroll through it, not even noticing your picture.
I get it, sometimes you take a picture in landscape format (horizontal) and when you try to post it on Instagram, it get resized because Instagram tries to fit it all in. There is no solution to this other than to crop the image. So next time you try to take a photo for Instagram, shoot in portrait format (vertical).
In other words, the photo size should look like this:
As you can see, the picture on the left size (good example) covers all the screen, and the picture on the right side (bad example) just covers half of the phone screen.
2. Composition
Your image composition is another important factor to be featured on @yololetstraveltheworld.
On our account, we choose to show images that share a certain composition; a beautiful environment with a model in it. As you can see on our profile, most of our pictures are taken in different locations around the world and there is usually one person in it. Our pictures focus on the landscape/place more than the model. The reason we choose this is because we think the location is more important if it comes to travel. The model plays a supportive role to create perspective and reachability.
So make sure your picture is not a lifestyle picture where the main focus is the person, instead the picture should focus on the place/landscape/area more than the person in it.
3. Colors
As you can see on our Instagram, we love to post pictures with bright colors. Make sure you edit the picture in a way that is not too saturated, bright, and is just in good harmony with the pictures we usually post.
4. Post the picture on your account
After you have the right photo size, composition, and colors, post the picture on your account. It’s better if you have your account open to the public (not private) so we are able to see your pic.
5. Use the hashtag #yololttw
Use our hashtag #YOLOLTTW on the picture you want us to feature. We check the hashtag weekly, by using the hashtag #yololttw you have more probabilities to be featured either on a post or on stories.
